The New York Yankees were in a moment of silence, reminding them of Charlie Kirk before their game against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.

Kirk was shot dead earlier that day at a speaking event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

He was the host of a right-wing talk show that founded Turning Point USA, a conservative youth-centric organization.

He also spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in 2024.

Kirk is President Donald Trump’s ally and confirmed Kirk’s death after a shooting on a university campus.

Trump is scheduled to appear at Yankee Stadium. There, the team is expected to hold a pre-match ceremony to recognize the victims and heroes of 9/11.
