Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is looking for a second term in competition with Josh Craft, but her biggest challenge may come from President Donald Trump.

WASHINGTON – Josh Craft, the son of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and New England Patriots owner Robert Craft, will advance to the November general election to become mayor of Massachusetts after winning the September 9th reserve.
Democrats Woo and Kraft defeated retired Boston police officer Robert Capucci and community activist and former Pop Warner football coach Domingos Darosa. Local governments in Boston are nonpartisan, and candidates appear in the same vote regardless of which party they are affiliated with.
Wu, 40, was elected mayor of Boston in 2021, becoming the first woman and the first Asian American to serve in the position. During her term, she signed an ordinance selling millions of city investments from businesses that benefit from fossil fuels, announced $50 million to improve apartments in the Jamaican Plain, helping to expand access to Boston’s pre-kindergarten program.
She also headed straight to the Trump administration. On September 4th, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the city’s sanctuary urban policy. This limits the extent to which local police will cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. WU has refused to withdraw its policy, and a September 5 Emerson College poll found 67% of voters approved her decision.
Meanwhile, the 58-year-old Kraft heads both the craft family charity, his family’s nonprofit, and the New England Patriots Foundation. According to his website, he has partnered to support LGBTQ+ individuals across Boston’s public schools, advocate for the creation of an independent office for rat and pest control, and has been working to increase mental health professionals across Boston public schools, partnering to support LGBTQ+ individuals.
WU could potentially win a second term in November. This is because many polls have found her major craft at a significant margin. Her major craft found 50 points in the Emerson College poll.
