Quarterback Caleb Williams wants to make history with the bears
Mark Jeannott explains how the Chicago Bears quarterback hopes to be freed from his perception and make history in the NFL

The first “Monday Night Football” game of the regular season featured a pair of pick quarterbacks in the 2024 first round with Caleb Williams and JJ McCarthy.
McCarthy made his draftmate better as the Minnesota Vikings beat the 27-24-year-old Chicago Bears to reach 1-0 in their younger season.
Monday was the first regular season meeting between Williams and McCarthy. It was McCarthy’s first career start. The game started Rocky for McCarthy, but he led the Vikings with three touchdown drives in the second half to lead Minnesota to victory.

JJ McCarthy
Growing up in the Chicago area, McCarthy started his first NFL. The first half and third quarter were rough, but he showed a lot of resilience in his comeback victory.
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell called for a conservative game for the young quarterback. McCarthy played like a young player who was overwhelmed throughout the first two quarters. He completed only five passes for 48 yards in the first half.
The second-year quarterback found a groove following a pick six in the third quarter. He led Minnesota with a three-stage touchdown drive, which brought momentum back to the Vikings’ favor in the fourth term. He gave Justin Jefferson a 13-yard touchdown strike.
On subsequent possessions, McCarthy threw a 27-yard touchdown to Aaron Jones, giving Minnesota a 20-17 lead with 9:46 left in the final quarter. He then avoided a 14-yard touchdown with his next property read option to lift the Vikings to a 27-17 advantage.
McCarthy finished with 143 yards, two touchdown passes, one interception and one rushing TD. He is the first starting quarterback with a fourth quarter comeback with over 10 points in his NFL debut since Steve Young in 1985, according to NFL research.

The Vikings won six straight games in Chicago. Minnesota’s first six-game winning streak in Chicago in franchise history.
Kevin O’Connell is 6-1 as head coach against the Bears.
Nursing Light
The bear was right with Light.
Wright was on the Vikings practice team last year. He got a sweet revenge against his previous club.
The fourth-year cornerback jumped ahead of JJ McCarthy Pass, targeting Justin Jefferson in the third quarter. Wright intercepted the football and ran down the field with a 74-yard pick six. It was Wright’s first pick six of his career.
The touchdown gave the Bears momentum and lifted them to a 17-6 lead.
Wright started in place of injured cornerback Jayron Johnson.
Arlington Heights
Bears president and CEO Kevin Warren reportedly sent a letter to season ticket holders. This said the team is set to build a new fixed roof stadium in Arlington Heights. The Bears also hope to bring the Super Bowl to the stadium soon in 2031 for each NFL network.
Jim Cornelison
Cornellison sang the national anthem before the match. His production may not have been your tea (in my opinion, the performance of the boys II males in the national anthem in Game 1 of the Cowboys vs. Eagles was the best). However, Cornelison let out a loud cry from X’s NFL.

Third down efficiency
Both teams struggled hard on the third down.
The bears were between 3 and 12 years old. They went 0-2 down in the final quarter. Minnesota wasn’t that good despite the victory.
The Bears attacked the second half
The second half of Chicago’s attack sank at Lake Michigan.
The bear was forced to punt four of his first five possessions after halftime. Caleb Williams led the Bears with a five-play, 65-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings offense was able to squeeze out the game’s watch on his next possession.
Chicago’s defense equaled the scoring output of the offense in the second half, with each unit scoring one touchdown.
Williams completed just eight passes in the second half.
