He praised the red-hot slugger who praised the home run and the frustrated left-handed struggles on one of the worst teams in major league history crossing at Coors Field, bringing Fracus to clear the bench.
And the craziest season of Rafael Devers’s decorated career took more turns on Tuesday, September 2nd, when the San Francisco giants faced the Colorado Rockies.
Devers hit his 30th home run in 2025 from Rockies Lefty Kyle Freeland, the fourth 30th homer season of his career, but like everything else in Devers’ world this year, it didn’t form. 5.28 Freeland, who put together the ERA for a start with San Francisco, attacked Devers’ time, heading towards him on the base path screaming and screaming in protest.
This has led the Giants bench to release streaming to protect Dever. The third baseman, Matt Chapman, thrusts back towards the mound at Freeland and gets an ejection.
As a result, it became one of the longest trips in Major League history, with Devers completing the circuit only after order was restored and attacks of the will of Freeland, Chapman and San Francisco were ejected.
Longball continued Devers’ recent heater, hitting seven homers in the last 15 games and posting an OPS of 1.175 in that period. Meanwhile, Freeland gave up 21 home runs for the Rockies, 39-100.
Without anything else, the incident showed that the giants certainly had shelter. He got off to a slow start after a stunning trade from the Boston Red Sox on June 15, but returned to his typical robust production levels of .879 OPS, .383 on-base percentage and 96 RBI.
“I think that’s what the team is doing,” Devers told reporters via a translator. “We’re a very united team. In such a situation, that’s what we should do. Stay with each other.”
Freeland said:
Trade from Boston was the endgame of a turbulent sequence that began when the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman. Instead, a nasty stare between Devers and Club eventually moved Devers to the designated batsman.
One baseman Triston Casas fell with a season-ending injury, the Red Sox asked Devers to move there again. However, DEVERS settled on DH and swapped him for San Francisco, rather than keeping the silver slugger in the lineup.
It all came into full circle in a way, in a way. After Chapman and Adams’ ejection, the shorthanded giant shuffled the lineup, and…devers is now 3 base.
Where he was when this crazy season began.
