“I still can’t believe it. I still think it’s a dream!” the unidentified winner told the Ohio Lottery.
The chances of winning Powerball and Mega Millions are not your favour
The chances of hitting a jackpot with the Mega Millions or Powerball are around 192 million. Here’s what you’re more likely to land than a big buck.
An Ohio man discovered he had bought a winning lottery ticket worth $500,000 after taking his wife for a medical visit.
The unidentified winner bought his top seven scratch-offs at a convenience store in Malvern about 40 miles from Akron.
According to the Ohio Lottery, he stopped after the appointment of his wife for cancer treatment.
When he got home, he learned that he had won $500,000 and brought the news to his wife.
“She looked at me in an interesting way and said, ‘Did you fall?’ I said, “I’m in shock!” he recalled to the Ohio lottery staff.
“can’t believe it”
According to the Ohio lottery, the man’s wife thought she was a joke until she scanned tickets for the mobile app. He took home $360,000 after tax.
The man told lottery officials he planned to use the prize money to pay off his wife’s medical debt.
“I still can’t believe it. I think it’s still a dream!” he told them.
