- The Dallas Cowboys traded Mika Parsons for the Green Bay Packers, with two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
- Parsons signed a four-year, $188 million extension with the Packers, making it the highest non-quarter in NFL history.
- The deal follows a controversial contract dispute between Parsons and the Cowboys. This was a failed attempt to negotiate by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who bypassed Parsons’ agents.
Mika Parsons wanted a new contract from the Dallas Cowboys. On Thursday, the Cowboys decided they had to settle in their new city.
The Cowboys traded Parsons for the Green Bay Packers. This is a source confirmed by Tyler Dragon from USA Today Sports. The Cowboys will receive two first-round picks as part of the return.
Parsons also agreed to a four-year, $188 million extension, including a $136 million guarantee, making it the highest-paid non-quarterly ever.
The relationship that began with such a promise ended in 2021 with a sour note from the Cowboys’ first round pick. Parsons, drafted 12th overall, became a fixture for the Dallas defence.
But it all began to collapse this offseason as Parsons sought a new contract from the Cowboys. Both sides dig into their heels and bent midway through some strange twists.
The Cowboys are no strangers to contract disputes with the stars, but they have traditionally solved them, as evidenced by Duck Prescott and Cedeelam Extension in 2024.
Jerry Jones attempts to end the deadlock, cutting off his agent, David Murgeta, to negotiate a deal with Parsons. The deal was never finalized, and Jones blasted Murugeta when he appeared on Michael Irvin’s YouTube channel and posted the deal.
Jones previously said he had no plans to trade Parsons, noting that the Cowboys could hold him for three more seasons thanks to his current contract and remaining on two franchise tags.
The plans will change soon, and Parsons is suitable for new teams after 2025. Let’s take a look at what the Cowboys need to trade Superstars at Edge.
