Traviskells’ dad spilles all the details about his engagement to his son Taylor Swift.
In an exclusive interview with Cleveland News 5, Ed Kelse told host John Kosic that his footballer’s son fell on one knee nearly two weeks ago on Sunday, August 10th, and Travis asked Taylor to marry him in his secret garden.
“He was going to put off that until this week,” Ed said on Zoom. “I think she was probably a bit uneasy, but he was going to put her off until this week. You know, you know, to make it a big special event, I told him repeatedly, you know, you can do it on the side of the road, you can make it a special event, you ask him to go down to one lap and marry her.”
Ed shared that Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, gives Travis the same advice, encouraging them to focus on the meaning of the moment on the spectacle.
So how did it fall: Kelse took Swift to the gazebo of his property at the summit in Lee, Missouri, just before dinner. “He put her out there and they were about to go out for dinner and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have some wine,'” Ed recalled.
“They came out there and that was when he asked her and it was beautiful.”
Ed learned the news during Eagles practice in Philadelphia. “The Eagles had 60,000 people in public practice two weeks ago on Sunday night,” he said. “I got a Fasety Time call from them, and as soon as I saw it was Travis, I looked at Taylor with him.
Ed said he knew Travis’ plans for several months. He even speculated that his son might propose during his last NFL season. What he has seen since is his happiest son, he added.
“We actually went to things on KC Sunday night, the ESPN broadcast of ‘King’. And his mother and I went back to his house with him for dinner. “We had an amazing dinner with them outside on the patio and we were hooked on each other to just see the two of them. It’s really neat.”
Although wedding details have not been set yet, Ed said the couple was first focusing on each other. “They are two young people and they don’t really want, but they’re cast in the spotlight following their success in their respective fields,” he said.
