According to a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notification, after thousands of cans labeled “zero sugar” were found to incorrectly contain “complete sugar products,” independent bottlers voluntarily recall certain sugar-free 7UP sodas.

According to the notice, on July 31, Buffalo Rock Company, a Birmingham, Alabama-based bottler, issued a recall of more than 20,000 aluminum cans of 7UP Zero Sugar Tropical Soda on July 31.

The soda was distributed in Alabama, Florida and Georgia, the notice states.

USA Today contacted Keurig Dr Pepper, owner of the 7UP brand and formula, and Pepsico, Soda’s international distributor, on Saturday, August 23rd, but did not receive a response.

Which 7ups were recalled?

According to an FDA notification, 1,954 cases of 12-pack 7UP Zero Sugar Tropical Soda were recalled in a 12-liquid ounce can. The total number of cans affected by the recall is 23,448.

The UPC for the can is 078000037975, and the UPC for the cardboard carton containing soda is 078000037982.

What should consumers do with the recalled 7UP?

The recall notification does not explain what consumers should do if they buy or own a recalled 7UP. For most recalled products, the FDA suggests that consumers must review the recall notice for certain instructions and stop using the product before returning or disposing of the item appropriately.
