Trump has developed an aggressive interim strategy, and the GOP is preparing to chase his lead with the new Republican National Committee chairman.
Newsom Channel plays on social media with an all-cap trolling post
California Governor Gavin Newsom is laughing President Donald Trump on all cap posts.
ATLANTA – Georgia Suite is located on the 68th floor of downtown Westin, the city’s towering Westin hotel, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering skyscrapers and city views. From that high-pash, the new chairman of the Republican National Committee was considering the high stakes of the 2026 election.
If Democrats regain control of Congress, Donald Trump’s presidency is “basically over,” the 48-year-old RNC chairman, who is a supporter of Florida’s early Trump, told USA Today. Trump’s approval ratings have fallen, but it remains to be seen whether Democrats can garner sufficient support to retake Congress.
Gruter and others aren’t taking the chance.
He and the country’s top Republican leaders are ramming through the cavernoise Atlanta hotels this week, putting more meat on the bones for their next national campaign plan. Trump may be limited for a period, but the president is also working to ensure that his party remains in power, ensuring that Democrats do not acquire subpoena authority to launch an investigation or try a third round each against him.
Trump is urging GOP states to decline to create a more Republican-leaning House seat. He trumpeted possible executive orders to reduce mail-in votes. He has developed an aggressive interim strategy, with Republicans preparing to follow his lead.
“The president is committed to winning,” Gluters said. “The party has promised to win.”
Their early maneuvering involves Democrats crying for a foul, but are trying to chase after the 2026 chess boards as they are rapidly repositioned.
“Trump agreed to the fact that he and his fools will be handed over to them (who was told) midway through 2026, so they are doing everything they can to rig the system,” Texas Democrat Chairman Kendall Scudder told USA Today this week as a Republican in his state. California Democrats quickly made their way forward with their own redrawn house maps to counter Texas.
RNC members at the party’s summer meeting said USA Today Trump is right to push the unusual mid-term constituency. They stubbornly defended the president’s agenda in the face of a vote that shows that aspects are unpopular, digging into the mid-term MAGA message of full throttle, led by the president’s hand-picked RNC chair.
“The president’s Florida campaign efforts have been co-chaired by the president’s Florida campaign efforts,” said Gruters, a former Florida GOP chair.
Take the Trump Train in 2026
Republicans across the country gathered in downtown Westin for a campaign strategy session. This will be oiling the gluter as a new RNC chair on August 22nd as a speech from Vice President JD Vance.
The confab brought together the GOP leaders of Blue State, Red State and Swing State. They face different mid-equations, from the feasibility of re-zoning to the competitive racial level, but were unified in one message. Trump offers based on his promises. The party is behind his agenda, and it’s an extreme Democrat.
“It’s amazing what the president has accomplished in such a short time,” said Mary Jane Beauregard, a woman with the GOP National Committee in New Hampshire.
Democrats say Trump is a radical policy push and is a budding authoritarian.
The opening stretch of Trump’s second term pushed the limits of executive power as he worked on overhauling federal government, universities and major cultural institutions. It has been characterized by a destructive trade agenda, perceived enemy punishment, and massive deportation efforts challenged by supporters of civil liberty.
Beauregard said the president’s policies are “common sense” and appeals to moderates, claiming that his records will “help us in the mid-term.” She pointed to Trump’s position on immigration and trans athletes.
Trump highlighted the cultural issue depicting Democrats as not contacting voters, and RNC members argued that it remains an effective strategy.
Michigan GOP Chairman Jim Runestad said Trump’s executive order, targeting “many of this awakening,” was the highlight of his second term and a record to execute.
Guarding for battle
Runestad met with Atlanta’s RNC staff to play games from where he placed the GOP campaign office to voter outreach and data analysis.
Michigan has many competitive races that will help determine the control of Congress. Trump carried the state in 2024. runestad said the challenge is to make voters go midterm.
“I’m not saying that it’s going to be easier. It’s going to be a yeoman job,” he said.
The party of power usually loses seats in Congress in the medium term, but Trump’s aggressive agenda is to turbocharge the opposition.
Florida model
A Pew Research Center survey released this month found that only 38% of Americans approved Trump’s job, a 9 percentage point decline since taking office.
Trump’s tariffs are opposed by 61% of US adults. The president believes it is hurting how the federal government works, and more people think he is opposed to his signature legislative achievements (called “one big beautiful bill”).
Recent economic reports also show that inflation has creeped up, slowing employment growth, presenting more potential challenges for political parties in the administration.
Republicans believe Trump’s new laws that cut taxes and programs, such as Medicaid, have risen to eventually sell it, and Vance has done it at an event in Georgia.
“When people realize what’s in it, they’ll be happier,” said Evan Power, Florida GOP chairman.
But despite the party claiming that Trump’s agenda will prove a victory formula, GOP leaders are piloting to improve their mid-term opportunities through efforts such as district change.
Missouri and Florida are among the GOP-controlled states considering joining Texas to portray a more Republican-leaning home seat.
“It’s our turn,” Missouri Republican National Commissioner David Lightner said of the district theory, saying, “The strongest survives and we feel strong now.”
Power said the push for Florida rezoning, supported by Gov. Ron DeSantis, could create four more GOPLEANING sheets. Like many Republicans, he rebutted criticism of the efforts by claiming that Democrats were engaged in gerrymandering their own, drawing seats for political interests.
Florida is at the forefront of many of the GOP’s focus in the 2026 cycle.
Republican-controlled Congress has drawn new GOP seats during its last constituency and made several changes to the election law that would place new restrictions on votes. Meanwhile, Florida has moved from purple to solid red in part to part appreciation for the Florida GOP’s push for strong voter registration, which eliminated the democratic registration advantage. The state’s voting restrictions are consistent with the RNC’s push for “election integrity” primarily focused on legal action, and this remains a top priority, Gruters said.
Moving from Florida’s swing state to Red state – Trump carried Florida 3.3 points in 2020 and 13.1 in 2024 – Gruters is the chairman of the Florida GOP and is part of the president, said why the president tapped him to lead the Nationalist Party.
