Autumn weather and frost are weekend weather forecast

Date:

Midwest and northeastern temperatures are expected in late August. Meanwhile, most of the west side will not get a preview of autumn weather.

Frost may be visible in parts of the Midwest in late August as temperatures may cut the bottom at some spots in their 30s after the weekend of August 23rd.

Minnesota’s National Weather Service calls the upcoming chilly weather “appetizers for the upcoming fall season.”

Even some “lake effect rain showers” (the more familiar lake effect mild places in snow) can dampen the shores of the Great Lakes.

The cold will be most prominent in the Midwest over the weekend, and will spread northeast by early next week, according to the forecaster.

The coolest since last spring

“The most substantial coldest air outbreak since last spring is expected to wipe out the Midwest from Friday (August 22) to Sunday (August 24),” Accuweather Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said in an online report.

He added, “at the peak of this outbreak, it could be similar to the temperatures we normally experienced in late September or early October.”

The Northeast must be completely shocked by the chilly effects until early next week. Accuweather reports that most of the region is likely to experience similar temperature drops as in the Midwest.

The cold is courtesy of the cold front

Not surprisingly, the drop in temperature is due to the cold fronts slowly pushing the nation south and east.

Behind the front, cooler, drier air will wipe out most of the country, “temperatures are expected to average up to 25 degrees Celsius from the plains to the Midwest, and we expect to reach parts of the south.”

How chilly? By Monday, August 25th, Chicago and Detroit highs could be struggling to reach 70 degrees.

Active weather across the Northeast Lakes and the Great Lakes could remain for more than a week, except for a short warm-up ahead of another cold front, Accuweather said.

How about the smoke from a wildfire?

Previous invasion of the US Canadian air was accompanied by smoke from wildfires. How about this time?

“The good news is that recent rainfall across parts of the Wildfire Source area has helped to temporarily alleviate smoke concerns,” said Acuweather meteorologist Brandon Buckingham. “However, if arid conditions continue south and east, the risk of wildfire activity can increase.”

Canada’s Great Lakes, the northeastern part of the neighbouring region has been very dry recently and could become more vulnerable to wildfire ignition, Accuweather warned.

The West doesn’t feel like a fall preview

Westerners will welcome some of the chills that overtake the Midwest and Northeast. The dangerous heat is expected to intensify and expand coverage in most of the western US over the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

“Wide range of heat-related warnings and recommendations have risen in the 90s and 100s in most of California/Oregon and Nevada’s inland, and cross the southwestern desert as highs rise in the 110s,” the Weather Service said. “This dangerous level of heat poses a threat to those who don’t have effective cooling and proper hydration.”

The heat will ease slightly in the southwest early next week, but is expected to last and intensify in the northwest. According to the Climate Prediction Centre.
