Anna Faris and Regina Hall are back to their roots.
Not only will Wayans Brothers (Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans) be on “Scary Movie 6,” but the two former stars from the franchise will also be reunited for a reboot, according to an announcement on Friday, August 15th.
“Fab Four is back and I’m excited to work and meet these two amazing women and meet again,” actor/writer Marlon Wayans wrote in an Instagram post. “We are very proud of everything they’ve done since the launch of the scary movie franchise.”
He shared the announcement along with the film, along with the film from Scary Movie 2. Faris is as Cindy, Marlon Wayans is as Shorty, Shawn Wayans is as Ray, and Hall is as Brenda. A few hours ago, Wayans teased the announcement by posting a photo of Faris and Hall from the original 2000 film alongside the inexplicable caption “👀m6.”
Hall and Faris’ final appearance in the horror parody franchise was in 2006’s Scary Movie 4. They didn’t appear in the 2013 standalone installment “Scary Movie 5.”
Both women found a breakout role in “scary films.” Faris took the comedy chops to “My Super Ex-Girlfriend,” “House Bunny,” and to the CBS series “Mama.” Hall appeared in “Girls’ Travel,” “Law-Attachment Citizens,” and “Alliance McBeer.”
The creative mind behind the franchise, Wayans Brothers, was only involved in the first two films. While Marlon and Sean wrote and starred in the film, Keenen Ivory Weian directed. David Zucker took on the role of writer and director in subsequent films.
Speaking to people in March, Marlon Wayans said that installments they weren’t involved “missing that taste.” So he joked in the sixth film, “We’re pulling out the hot sauce of Laurie and that Frank.”
“We got the gloves. We’re going to R. We’re going to have the same kind of tone and Wayan flavor as we gave the first one,” he said.
“Scary Film,” which drew $278 million at the global box office, has enjoyed several films from Scream, The Sixth Sense, The Matrix, Inking You You Dided You Dided, and The Blair Witch Project. The other four films follow a similar format.
What are the Scary Movie 6 that comes up?
In his Instagram post, Wayans confirmed that the film is aiming for a summer release, which is scheduled to land in theaters on June 12, 2026.
