President Donald Trump will sit on Friday with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a summit in Anchorage, Alaska, to announce the seventh meeting between the two world leaders.
The summit, which focuses on ending the war in Ukraine, will be held at the joint base of the military facility Elmendorf Richardson. This will be the first meeting between Trump and Putin on American soil.

Putin met all five US presidents who had been in office since he came to power in 2000.

The summit is “listening exercise,” and Trump’s goal is to “get away with a better understanding of how to end this war,” White House spokesman Caroline Leavitt said in an August 12 news briefing.
President Putin had previously visited the United States and spent time with President George W. Bush in 2007 at the Bush family home in Kennebunkport, Maine.
However, the Alaska conference was the first visit to the state by Russian leaders, and the United States bought it from Russia in 1867 for $7.2 million. According to the official Data.org, it is worth around $156.4 million today.
