AT&T paid $177 million last year in a class action settlement related to separate data breaches.

According to a news release from the Kroll Settlement Administration, one incident dated March 30, 2024 released vulnerable data for some customers on the Dark Web, including addresses, social security numbers, date of birth, passcodes, billing numbers and phone numbers.

The telecommunications company was charged in the case on July 12, 2024, when limited data was illegally downloaded. The compromised information included customers and other users associated with the account, as well as numbers that interacted with it.

Here’s what you need to know about settlements:

Who is eligible for the settlement?

According to information on the payment website, customers affected by the initial data incident can charge up to $5,000 by providing material for documented loss cash payment options.

Another option is Tier 1 or Tier 2 cash payments. Those who had a Social Security number in the March 30 data breach are eligible to file a Tier 1 claim, five times the Tier 1.

Those affected by the July 12th data breach may be eligible for documented losses cash payments of up to $2,500. According to the payment website, documented materials must be presented.

An alternative is a tier 3 cash payment option, which is the percentage of the management fee and settlement after receiving the bill.

Both affected customers can receive up to $7,500.

When is the billing deadline?

Eligible persons must submit their claim online via the AT&T Data Incident Settlement Request Request Form. The deadline to do so is Tuesday, November 18th, 2025. You can also send a bill by mail, and you will need to receive it by the deadline or mail it.
