TJ Maxx and Marshalls are not the only retailers to open new stores this August.

HomeGoods, a sister store to TJ Maxx and Marshalls, has already opened three new stores this month, and according to its website, it plans to open at least one new store. All three brands are owned by TJX companies that own Sierra and Homesense.

The latest batch of opening follows TJX Companies CEO Ernie Herrman, with the goal of opening at least 1,300 additional locations throughout the TJX portfolio in May 2024.

According to the TJX website, the first two stores opened in Massachusetts in 1977 and acquired Marshall in 1995. At the time, Marshalls was the second-largest priced retailer in the United States, with 496 stores.

According to TJX’s website, HomeGoods was introduced in 1992 and offers “economical choices in home fashion around the world.”

In its first quarter revenue report, TJX said it owns and operates 1,338 TJ MAXX locations and 1,234 Marshall locations. The company also owns and operates 950 HomeGoods stores, 123 Sierra stores and 75 Homesense stores.

Here’s what you need to know about this month’s home merchandise opening:

Which states are getting new home goods locations?

According to the retailer’s website, the new HomeGoods store recently opened at:

  • 1534 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove, Illinois
  • 1463 University Drive, Burlington, North Carolina
  • 3200 Columbus Centre, Columbus, Indiana

Additionally, at least one store is scheduled to open on August 21st at 123 Grey Street, Suite 20A in East Aurora, New York.

What home goods do you sell?

According to the HomeGoods website, the chain sells “a constantly changing mix of products” such as furniture, rugs, cooking utensils and lighting.

The chain comes in both standalone and superstore formats, combining home goods with TJ Maxx or Marshalls stores.
