The “gut feeling” of one man from North Carolina was rewarded in a huge way.
According to a press release from NC Education Lottery, William Evans felt good about playing Multiplier Mania, a digital jackpot game with tickets starting at 50 cents.
Players will need to match some digital “symbols” to win the top prize, state lottery officials said.
Evans played for $1 on July 23rd, hoping to turn his good sense into cash, winning the top-level “Gold Jackpot” for one in 10 million chances to win.
“Something told me to play it,” Evans told the lottery. “I’m excited.”
Relaxing at home in a recliner, Evans learns that his gut instinct is a spot since he had just won $273,520.
“I said, ‘Am I reading this correctly?'” Evans said. “It was kind of nervous.”
Jackpot winners will buy a house with the prize money
Evans, who won the July 25th award, took home $251 and $196 after state and federal taxes were deducted. He plans to use his prize money to buy his own property.
“I want my place,” Evans told state lottery officials.
