Indian police arrested a man accused of running a fake embassy from a rental property near the capital of New Delhi and retrieved the car on a fake diplomacy board.
The suspect is said to have mistook people for money by impersonating ambassadors and pledging employment abroad, said senior police officer Shusir Ghre, a special task force in Uttar Pradesh, in northern India.
Police say 47-year-old Hirschwardan Jain acted as an advisor or ambassador to businesses such as “Seborga” and “Westerktika.”
Police recovered photographs of multiple doctors showing Jains with world leaders and showed false seals from India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and almost three dozen countries, Gre said.
Jain is also suspected of illegal moneyling through shell companies overseas, he said. He is also faced with accusations of forgery, impersonation and possession of fake documents.
Police recovered fake diplomacy boards and nearly 4.5 million Indian rupees ($52,095) and other foreign currency in cash from Jain rentals decorated with international flags in several countries.
Jain or his attorney could not be immediately contacted for comment.
