Callowry continues historic power season with the Home Run Derby title
USA Today Sports’ Jesse Yomtov breaks down Cal Raleigh’s impressive home run derby performance.
ATLANTA – This stage is headed for Major League Baseball’s 95th Annual All-Star Game, which will be held this year at Trust Park, showing off the game’s biggest stars at the Atlanta Braves’ home stadium.
Pirates Ace Paul Skens will start in the National League. In the American League, Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal is set to take the mound.
“Whenever you’re in the clubhouse at the best of the game and you’re against the best of the game on the other side, it’s a great product,” Skubal said a day before the game. “I hope the fans appreciate this is truly the best player in the game. It’s an honor to share the room with them.”
The AL and NL teams are managed by club skippers Aaron Boone (Yankees) and Dave Roberts (Dodgers) who reached the 2024 World Series.

Athletics Slugger Brent Rooker hit a three-run homer from Giants’ Randy Rodriguez at the top of the seventh, cutting AL’s 6-0 deficit in half. Maikel Franco chased Rookier’s explosion on a walk, stealing second, and taking third place with a slow error by Catcher Hunter Goodman. Bobby Whitt Jr.’s groundout took Garcia to make it 6-4 games.
Diamondbacks star Corbin Carroll hit solo homer with just a few batters in the NL 6-0 after Pete Alonso’s three-run homer, attacking Casey Maize, the lower right hander in the right heart, to right center.
Carroll, the 2023 NL Rookie of the Year, scored 21 home runs, 10 triples and 11 stolen bases in the first half.
The New York Mets slugger clubs a three-run Homer, a explosion of left-handed Chris Bubic’s opposition, which expanded the NL lead to 5-0, to the right field.
Alonso entered the All-Star break with a .908 OPS, 21 Homer and 77 RBI. He’s five home runs behind Daryl Strawberry on the Mets’ best list of all time.
Queter Marte’s two-run double in the first inning has remained a difference so far at Truste Park. Five NL pitchers (Paul Skens, Clayton Kershaw, Jason Adam, Logan Webb and David Peterson) throw four scoreless frames.
ATLANTA – The constant pressure to emotes by Freddie Freeman has ended mercilessly.
From the moment of the camera interview before the All-Star Game, to the moment Fox Sports asked all the key questions to the very long-lasting pre-match introductions held at one and a half at normal speeds, Freeman doesn’t have to think of crying anymore.

Yankees Leftical Ros Rodon handled two doubles by Pete Crow Armstrong at the second bottom, and first put the shoe hei ohtani on the ground to end the threat.
NL is 1-5, runners are in scoring position, and Ketermarte’s two-run double is a two-run double in his first run so far.
Selected to the All-Star roster and as Rob Manfred’s “Legendary Pick” committee member, the future Hall of Fame Southpaw released Paul Skens in two innings. The three-time Cy Young winner, Kershaw has recently become the 20th pitcher with 3,000 career strikeouts.
Calshaw had the microphone up – lined up to the left to Cal Lowry and attacked Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Shohei Ohtani scored a single at center, Ronald Acuña Jr. managed the infield single before Tarik Skubal recorded the out and took Keter Marte to the plate to a large location. The Diamondbacks slugger plated two runs with double runs in the field corner on the right, with Acuña appearing all the way from the start to score.
However, Skubal limited the damage and got to the ground before hitting Manny Machado and Will Smith on Freddie Freeman.
Paul Skens hit American League leadoff hitter Greybartores, and the 95th midsummer classic began here in Atlanta.
Pittsburgh’s Pirates Ace finished the top of the first inning by giving Judge Aaron a position of 2 base after blowing Riley Green for a second out.

- History of the series: Al leads 48-44-2
- American League final victory: 2024 (5-3 victory)
- National League Final Winner: 2023 (3-2 victory)
The American League leads the National League 48-44-2 with the highest series record ever in the MLB All-Star Game.
The American League has dominated the Midsummer Crassic over the past 10 years. This is because the American League has won 11 of its past 12 All-Star Games. Since 2000, the American League has won 19 of its last 24 All-Star Games, so its advantage only strengthens the American League.
This was the longest winning streak in the National League in the All-Star Game, which won 11 consecutive wins from 1972 to 1982. The National League’s 11-game winning streak is the longest winning streak by a single league in All-Star Game history.

ATLANTA – Standing at 6-foot-7, Misiorowski says he’s been a whirlwind since making his MLB debut on June 12th when he pitched five no-hit innings against the St. Louis Cardinals.
“The last five weeks have been insane,” Misiorowski said with a smile. “I wanted the All-Star Break to be one of those times when you could sit down and look back at everything. But we’re here now and we’re doing this.”
National League manager Dave Roberts defended the inclusion of Misiorowski, who is 4-1 with 2.81 ERA in five starts and 33 strikeouts.
“My North Star should be the best player in the game for the All-Star Game. It’s about the fans and what they want to see,” Roberts said. “So I couldn’t be more excited about this young child being selected as an All-Star.
“That’s a simple answer, because if it makes us excited and alert to our game, I’m all about it.”

ATLANTA – Yankees All-Star pitcher Carlos Rodon saw Jacob Wilson at the American League clubhouse on Monday and groaned about the difficulty of stopping him and pitching him.
“I said, ‘Hey, I’m looking at the scouting report about you, and it’s throwing a fastball, because you shouldn’t have hard contacts, and that’s what I’m saying.’ I throw four seamers and you doubled me.
“You don’t know what you expect from someone who has a low mistake and can have quality contact there. That’s not fair. What do I do with a guy like this? You’re not going to attack him.” – Bob Knight Engale, USA Today
Next year’s All-Star Game will be held at Citizens Bank Park, home to the Philadelphia Phillies. The club held the Midsummer Crassic at Veterans Stadium in 1996.
