Trump promotes $90 billion in AI, Pittsburgh’s energy

President Trump has long expressed his desire to see America dominate the global market in artificial intelligence innovation. In fact, one of the first executive orders he signed was intended to remove barriers to American leadership in a rapidly growing field.

On July 15, Trump will travel to Pennsylvania to tout more than $90 billion private sector investment in the state, including data centers, energy, electricity infrastructure and the personnel needed to promote the country’s AI ambitions, according to Sen. Dave McCormick of the Pennsylvania Replica.

It also happened to be in a battlefield state, and was essential to Trump’s victory in 2024.

First Energy will invest $15 billion to expand its power distribution, strengthen its grid infrastructure, support 56 of 67 Pennsylvania counties, and operate the expanded grid.

“As the second largest energy producer in the nation and the global nuclear power leader, Pennsylvania is setting itself up to provide the abundant and affordable energy that AI and sophisticated manufacturers demand,” McCormick said in a statement.
