According to the latest view on June menu prices changes by toast, that dinner for your family or your next night’s meal could cost a little more.

Menu prices for some popular items remain higher than a year ago, according to a June menu price monitor by the Digital Technology Platform.

In June, median prices for premium cup coffee, cold brews, beer and burgers are all creeping up. Two items on the menu saw prices for burritos and wings drop slightly.

Research shows that median normal coffee cups remained the same since May.

“Inflation and rising costs are the biggest costs as restaurants try to navigate the current climate,” Brian Koerber, principal of Brand Journalism and News at Toast, told USA Today.

Restaurants are leveraging a variety of strategies to deal with inflation, Koerber said, including rising prices, conducting profit analysis, adjusting food suppliers, tracking material costs and managing inventory.

What kind of menu prices have risen?

Below is how the prices on the menu changed in June, according to Toast data.

  • coffee: The median regular coffee price for June was $3.50. This remains the same as the price in May 2025, but was 3.6% higher than the price a year ago. However, the cost of premium cup coffee has risen to $4.50, up 1.1% per month since May, with a jump of 9.5% over a year ago.
  • Cold Brew: Cold beer prices in June increased by $5.42, up 0.4% from May. The price is about 4% higher than a year ago.
  • Beer: The cost of beer rose 0.3% to $6.46. The year-over-year rise in beer at restaurants has remained below 3% since February 2024.
  • Britos: Median burrito prices for June fell by $13.37 or 0.1% from May. The year-over-year price rise for burritos has remained below 4% since February 2024.
  • Wings: The median price for the wing was slightly lower at $13.75 since May, down 0.1%. Price increases compared to the previous year have been below 3% since February 2024.
  • hamburger: The median price at $14.39 has increased by 0.1% since May. The previous year’s prices for hamburgers increased by 3%.

More people are eating out

According to a new analysis and report from the Bank of America Institute, consumers have spent more restaurants than grocery stores over the past few months.

According to Bank of America’s credit and debit card data, grocery spending has been delaying restaurant spending since March, up 1% in June compared to 2.1% in 2024.

But in contrast to spending data, when asked what consumers have recently done, they said they are cutting their spending at restaurants. Aggregated data from Bank of America shows households are increasing spending at full-service restaurants and also show how often they eat in June.

“Looking at Bank of America’s card data, we can see that households reduced visits to Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs) and increased the number of transactions at full-service casual dining spots in June.

Furthermore, the growth in spending per transaction among low-income households was greater than other income levels for both limited and full-service diets, the report states. “However, the increase in trading numbers in June was much lower, suggesting that the initial withdrawal of spending could come with travel numbers, but not necessarily the money spent,” the report said.
