Walmart issued a recall of 850,000 metal water bottles after two customers suffered permanent vision loss from a lid forced into their face, according to a July 10 notification from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
According to the CPSC notification, Ozark’s stainless steel water bottles pose a risk of “serious impact and tears” to consumers. If foods such as juice or milk, carbonated drinks, or perishable drinks are stored in the bottle over time, the screw lid can be forced to drain.
According to the CPSC, a recall was launched after three people reported Walmart injured after the lid hit them.
USA Today reached Walmart for comment.
