Nicholas Holt reveals that he writes everything down David Corenswet says
David Corenswett, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Holt joke about getting to know each other on the set of “Superman.”
Some men jumped over tall buildings at a single boundary faster than speeding bullets. But of all the actors who rode the Superman cape, who is the most super?
Is it Christopher Reeve, the beloved star who made everyone believe that a man could fly along with John Williams’ legendary theme? Was it Henry Cavill who gave Zack Snyder’s DC Universe a more serious tone? Are you one of the TV supermen like Dean Kane and Tom Welling? Or is it the latest guy from David Corenswett, the star of James Gunn’s new adventure, “Superman” (July 11th in theaters)?
To celebrate the next man in the red trunk, we rank all the live-action films and TV supermans that unleashed heat vision in pop culture. (I’m sorry, but Nicholas Cage’s computer-generated cameo fan is “The Flash.” We also deal with supermarkets.male Here, “Superboy” stars John Hames Newton and Gerald Christopher.
9. Kirk Allin
Although Superman’s Kirk Allin was not the most jacked hero to play him, he undoubtedly brought healthy good to the character in the 1948 film serial “Superman” and its sequel “Atomman vs. Superman.” His DC roots ran deep. He played the title role of “Black Hawk” in the 1950s serial and had a cameo as Lois Lane’s father in the 1978 Superman film.
8. Brandon Rouse
Brandon Rouse felt the role and could be one of the greatest ever, but Brian Singer’s 2006 film Superman Returns was a Jazzic film that never took the way the studio had hoped for. It wasn’t just once for Routh, but the actor was able to show more of his superhero side as an atom in the CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow” TV series, and revert the Supes cape to the 2019 arrow crossover.
7. Dean Kane
Dean Cain’s Do-Gooder was more soapy than the supers from ABC’s four-season show “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” in the 1990s. Starring Cain and Teri Hatcher (as Lois Lane), the series put an interesting Rom-Com spin on the mythology of Superman. However, it introduced mainstream audiences to plenty of cool DC lore, and Cain made the Suave Supes/Bumbling Clark dichotomy work well.
6. Henry Cavill
Another case of potentially really good soup that was violated in his films in Zack Snyder’s 2013 Man of Steel and 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was not Cavill’s superhero. (Do you need to mention that he snapped his enemy’s neck?) It wasn’t until 2017’s “Justice League” that Cavil really began to become a superman worthy of the John Williams theme.
5. Tyler Hohelin
Many people first appeared in CW’s “Supergirl” and several arrow cameos in 2016, and first slept in the portrayal of Wheeklin’s comic character before appearing in “Superman & Lois” (2021-24). Hoechlin is one of the best that nails Superman’s emotional journey while balancing different aspects of the role.
4. Tom Welling
He must have spent 10 seasons leading TV shows and did the right thing. No one played Clark Kent more than Tom Welling, WB’s “Smallville” star. From his uneasy teenager on a Kansas farm, joining the high school football team, to his adult job at Daily Planet, Welling has been consistently strong in showing how future Superman learns to fly in every way.
3. David Corenswet
From the beginning of the new “Superman” film, it is clear that David Corensweat will win a man at his core. He saves the children from monster fuel mayhem and property damage. He puts international cases at risk to save those who need him. He stops everything to find the lost dog. The Steel Man is personified of kindness and empathy when done right, and Coren Sweatt checks those boxes with humor and a bit of fire.
2. George Reeves
Just as Adam West did with Batman ten years later, George Reeves defined the characters to a generational level, like never before, in the 1950s show Superman of Adventure. Mild Manager Clark Kent and his powerful alter-ego regularly saved his companions, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, so Reeves brought likeability, integrity and an authority streak to his life-changing roles.
1. Christopher Reeve
Goats, plain and simple. Christopher Reeve’s first two Superman films brought nuance to superhero films and featured a phenomenal actor who brilliantly captured the characters. One scene from his first film in 1978 covers how amazing he is. With his changes in posture and mannerism and his glasses off, he easily swaps Clark Kent persona with a Big Blue Boy Scout. And as the ultimate superman, he is the man everyone else wearing that cape and “S” shield is trying to match forever.
