Larry David dropped pretty, clean, pretty big news. He is working with the former president for his next HBO show.
“Curb Your Everism” creator 78 will be appearing in the new HBO “American History Sketch Comedy” series, produced by former President Barack Obama and former First Michelle Obama at the top of the company, the network announced on Thursday, July 10th.
The Six-Episode Limited series is created and produced by David.
“I sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most unruly issues. There’s nothing I’ve prepared for working with Larry David,” Barack Obama joked in a statement.
In his own statement, David said, “It’s heavy heart that I’m back on TV.” The show is timed for the 2026 US semi-calcentennials. “President Obama and his wife wanted to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate our country’s unique history on this special occasion,” the official Logline said. “…but Larry David called.”
Amy Gravitt, head of comedy programming for HBO and HBO Max, said the series “shows a glimpse into the history shared as they celebrated Semikinken Tennial.”
The project marks David’s first new television show since his long-running HBO series “Curb Your Everism” starred as a fictional version of himself. David previously created “Seinfeld” with Jerry Seinfeld.
According to HBO, the new show, which has yet to have a title or release date, will feature some actors from “Curb Your Everism” “Remarkable Guest Stars.”
On Sunday Today in 2024, David joked that he was finishing “the curb of your enthusiasm.” Because he plays someone like his “curb” character, especially because he’s “not too old to be on camera every week.”
“How can I act that way in order to act the way I do on this show? That’s insane,” he said. “Yeah, I can do that in my 50s, 60s, or mid-70s. I don’t go to the 80s acting like that!”
