Honda recalls that the 65k+ Honda Accord surrounds the Lowway problem

Date:

Honda recalled more than 65,000 vehicles due to the issue of vehicles rolling down while in the park.

The affected vehicles include certain 2013 Honda Accord vehicles. According to Honda, drive shafts can corrode and break due to damage from road salt and other contaminants.

“A broken drive shaft can lose drive power or cause the vehicle to overturn when the vehicle is in the park without parking brakes applied,” Honda announced on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. “Both scenarios can increase the risk of crashes and injuries.”

Here are some things you need to know about recalls and what to do if you drive an affected vehicle:

A recall is an extension of a previous recall

The recall is an expansion of the previous recall number 20V769, announced in December 2020 and January 2021. The recall included 2013-2015-2015 Honda Accord vehicles.

“The drive shaft is assembled with lubricant that may have dismantled the protective coating on the drive shaft, making it susceptible to damage from road salts and other contaminants, potentially (potentially (breaking) potentially (causing) potentially (causing).

The new recall includes 65,115 2013 Honda Accord vehicles under the recall number.
