Buying at McDonald’s or even finding an original glass doughnut at McDonald’s may prove difficult after July 2nd.

The two companies announced last week that they had decided to quit their work together “after careful consideration.”

The fast food giant has begun offering three Krispy Kreme donut options, including original glass-covered donuts, sprinkled doughnuts and chocolate ice cream filled with donuts, at around 2,400 McDonald’s locations since March 2025.

However, these products cannot be successful and will soon be removed by companies.

“We are excited and pleased to partner with Krispy Kreme,” said Alyssa Eticofer, McDonald’s US Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer. “We collaborated strongly with Krispy Kreme and they provided great high quality products for us. This had to be a profitable business model for Krispy Kreme, while the partnership met expectations for McDonald’s and owner/operators.”

Krispy Kreme will prioritize increasing the availability of donuts, with McDonald’s focusing on building breakfast success.

Here’s what you need to know about the end of Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s Partnership:

When will McDonald’s stop offering Krispy Kreme doughnuts?

It is not immediately clear that McDonald’s will officially offer his last Krispy Kreme doughnut (or if you already have one), but the company announced on Tuesday, July 2nd that the partnership will officially end.

Krispy Kreme did not immediately respond to USA Today’s request for comment.

When is the partnership between Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s start?

Fast food enthusiasts noticed a short-lived corporate partnership in late 2023 as a staged test rollout of donuts began at 160 McDonald’s restaurants in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky.

In October 2024, McDonald’s restaurant in the Chicago area began selling original glazed donuts and other fresh donuts. In the same month, Krispy Kreme locations began offering free donuts to customers if they showed McDonald’s paper or digital receipts dated October 10-14, 2024.

The two companies initially aimed to be available nationwide at participating restaurants by the end of 2026.

“By partnering with McDonald’s nationwide, fans and donut enthusiasts will provide daily access to fresh donuts and a joy for Krispy Kreme,” Charlesworth said in a March 2024 news release.

Tests at 160 McDonald’s restaurants in Lexington and Louisville were deemed “consumer excitement and demand exceeded expectations” and “successful.”
