The 2026 Ford Explorer off-road reliability will be boosted by mid-sized SUVs adding models to the car manufacturer’s popular tremor badge later this year.

The Explorer tremor adds gear that includes three steel skid plates, increased ground clearance and Tosen’s rear differential.

2026 Explorer Tremor gets a handsome visual upgrade, from bright LED off-road lights over the new grill to “Electric Spice” orange detailing.

Take your Explorer off-road – this time for reality

Tremors need to add meaningful features compared to the short-lived Timberline trim in Explorer. Ford has canceled the Timberline after the 2024 model year.

The Shizue is an outdoor model that reflects performance-oriented ST in the Explorer lineup. ST prices start at $56,770. It’s not unreasonable to expect tremors from the same neighborhood.

Tremor is available either with a 2.3L four-cylinder or a 3.0L V6 engine. The only performance figures revealed by Ford are 400 horsepower from the Twin-Turbo V6. The towing capacity is 5,000 pounds.

A 14-speaker B&O audio system is now available.

Explorer is the second Ford SUV to acquire a tremor model following the expedition. There is also a tremor model of the Ford pickup.

Why does Explorer Tremor make it special?

The front corners of the Explorer Tremor were carved so that the front wheels can tackle large rocks without compromising the fascia. Selecting a new off-road mode changes throttle response, shift points, traction control, power distribution, 360-degree trail view, and inclinometer.

Other unique tremor touches include:

  • There is 1 inch ground clearance
  • Twin front recovery hook
  • Led off-road light on the grill
  • Steel front, rear, transmission skid plate
  • Unique front and rear fascia
  • Off-road driving mode
  • Improved approach and starting angle
  • Trail view camera
  • Unique stabilizer bar and spring
  • Upgraded shock absorbers

The trembling will be the first vehicle to feature a 1.5 version of the Ford’s Blue Cruise hands-free driving system, with completely automatic lane changes to other features.

We share upgrades received by Explorer for 2025, including Google Navigation, Apps, Music and more. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain standard equipment.

Ford is currently ordering tremors from Explorer.
