At least eight people were killed when a hot air balloon crashed in Brazil, authorities said on June 21.
According to Reuters, the balloon carried 21 passengers and sparked a fire during a tourist flight early in the early morning hours in the southern province of Santa Catalina. A crash fell in Praia Grande city, reported by Reuters. Thirteen survivors were taken to the hospital.
Santa Catalina Gorguinho Mello said he monitored the situation, provided support for the victims and their families, calling it a “tragedy” in a video posted on social media.
Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva expressed his sadness towards the victim’s family in a social media post.
Another recent crash in a hot air balloon in Brazil killed one person and injured several people on June 15, the G1 News Outlet reported.
