Flood destroys Texas, Appalachians

Heavy rains and flash floods in Texas locked parts of West Virginia in drivers, cleaned vehicles, pulled homes out of foundations, killing as many as 20 people and struggled to recover from the community. Thunderstorms over San Antonio have caused nearly 10 inches of rain in a few hours, and the area has doubled the amount of rain throughout June. It overwhelmed the overwhelming streams and waterways, drenching the Appalachian area, up to 4 inches. “It happened very quickly,” said Lou Burgo, Ohio County’s Director of Emergency Management. “I’ve been doing this for 35 years…I’ve never seen anything like this.”

The U.S. Supreme Court defeated the Trump administration when it hit the transgender rights movement and supported Tennessee law with the exception of care that preserves the gender of minors. The ruling fell along ideological boundaries as six conservative justice in the court favored the ban and three Liberal parties opposed it. Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skulmetti said the decision was a victory “in the defense of American children.” Kimberly Inez McGuire is the head of unity for reproduction and gender equity, and the court said it chose “cruelty to caregiving.”

Steve Carell’s advice for graduates: “Just Dance”

When Steve Carell is your starting speaker, you should be ready for anything. The actor, who earned an honorary degree from Northwestern University before speaking to the alumni, quickly turned the ceremony into a dance party when Ting Chings became a crowd of alumni who were pleased with, saying, “That’s not my name.” “It was as refreshing as it was in the way,” he told them afterwards. His speech was not without the advice of the wise man. “Don’t forget to laugh if you get the chance, and then “I just dance sometimes.”

Who said Sunshine State is not a place for hockey? The Florida Panthers netted their second Stanley Cup and rejected the Edmonton Oilers for the second straight time – a 5-1 romp in front of the home cloud in Game 6, where Winger Samline Hart scored four goals. The cat has joined the Tampa Bay Lightning brothers who won back-to-back cups in 2020 and 2021. There was another shortage for Edmonton. – Edited and written by Robert Abitoborg, USA Today Copy Chief
