Good news, Ozian! There is rarely a time when the “wicked” returns from the break.
The first trailer for “Wicked: For Good” debuted the highly anticipated follow-up of the hit musical “Wicked” along with the theatrical re-release of the original film.
This footage teases the second half of the Broadway show. This, contrary to the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum), is branded as the evil witch of the West, then he is then brought to the reception with the people of Oz who live in fear of Elphaba (Cynthia Eribo).
Elphaba is shown in exile in the footage, and Fiero (Jonathan Bailey) is said to be hot on her trail, so he speaks to the Wizard. Ariana Grande and Eribo’s emotional rendition of “For Good,” the most famous song from the second half of “Wicked,” performed throughout the trailer, and Eribo can be heard singing “No Good Deeds.”

Dorothy Gale also appears in several points in the footage, teasing that the sequel incorporates more directly the events of The Wizard of Oz. In one shot, Dorothy stands in front of the wizard along with a tin man, a scarecrow and a ward diseased lion.
However, her face is never shown, and it is unclear whether it is in the film itself. Dorothy’s casting has not been announced.
In “Wicked,” director John M. Chu chose to split the musical story into two films, ending the first part where the show takes a break. The sequel was originally known as “Evil Things: Part 2,” but was given the official title “Wicked: For Good.”
All the major stars of the original “Evil” recreate their roles, including Ariana Grande as Glinda, Jonathan Bailey as Fiero, Marissa Bode as Nessarose and Ethan Slater.
However, unlike the first film, “Wicked: For Good” brings two new original songs that are not available on the stage show. Chu told Vanity Fair that one of the new songs is for Elfaba and the other for Glinda. “I hope the whole crew shed tears when we filmed. I hope the audience is ready. I hope it’s a song that tells who Elphaba is.
In Cinemacon in April, Grande teases “Evil: For Good”, Glinda “looks back at her reflection to understand what it means to be Glinda”, and Eribo says that Elphaba “must learn how to use her powers to improve the good of exile.” Producer Mark Pratt also promised “more complexity and deeper” with the two characters.
The original “Evil” has won over $750 million worldwide, making it the best selling film based on the Broadway musical of history. He has received 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and won an Academy Award for his best costume and production design.
