Finishing the week with Friday news:

Illinois toys and Trump tariff deferral

The Trump administration got a temporary reprieve Thursday after the appeals court ruled that tariffs could be maintained while challenging the court’s order that the White House blocked them.

Exchange whiplash: The rapid reversal came the day after the US International Trade Court invalidated it by Trump to impose tariffs on its use of the International Emergency Economic Force Act of 1977.

Former federal workers are running for public office

Itil Cole tried to take a little break after quitting his job with the federal government early in the Trump administration. Her husband then unfairly stated that there was an open seat in the governing body of her New Jersey town. She did because no one like her was running – and won her mid-May race by 49 votes. Cole is one of the floods of federal workers trying to run for public office.. Many say they want to continue serving Americans after Trump leaves the government voluntarily or through a massive layoff as he is dramatically reducing federal workers.

Trump temporarily retreats Harvard’s international students ban

A federal judge from Boston said at a hearing Thursday that he planned to issue a preliminary injunction that would prevent the Department of Homeland Security from revoking Harvard’s ability to register foreign exchange students. Comments from US District Judge Alison Burrows came as the Trump administration tried to return to the May 22nd order. Students around the world began their start in the Ivy League on the same day as the hearing.

The White House hopes women will have more babies. They ignore some of the problems – men.

The US birth rate has been steadily decreasing since 2007, and birthers both inside and outside the White House are determined to raise it. However, when a partner struggles to get pregnant, the burden is rarely distributed evenly between men and women. Infertility experts say we miss an important element of our conversation: infertility in men. Experts say that while factors infertility in men and women often coexist, many men have not been tested before female partners begin IVF. Supporters say characterizing fertility solely as a woman’s problem is part of a “broader cultural misconception.”

How understaffed is there at airports?

Air traffic controller staff has been a major issue for the Federal Aviation Administration for many years. As a result, it was a major problem for travelers as well. Even if there is a delay, it is not always the best in the mind for the average passenger. Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said the FAA has shortened around 3,000 air traffic controllers nationwide, but these shortages don’t spread evenly across the system. This map shows staffing disparities across the country at various facilities.
