Tiger’s son Charlie Woods wins Team TaylorMade Invitational when claiming the first AJGA event

Date:

Bowling Green, Florida (AP) – Tiger Woods needs to create a room on the trophy shelf for his son Charlie.

The 16-year-old finished with a 15-under 201 three-round score at the Team TaylorMade Invitational on Wednesday, winning his first American Junior Golf Association event at The Streamsong Resort Black course. Woods began the day tied at 9 under 135, finishing in the final round of 6 under 66, leading the field of 71, including four of the top five AJGA players.

Woods’ final round featured eight birdies and two bogeys, closing with four straight pars. He won the event with a three-stroke ahead of a three-way tie between fifth-placed players Luke Colton, Willie Gordon and Phillip Dunham.

Woods opened the tournament with a first round score of 70, continuing on Tuesday with 65. He was attending his fifth AJGA event. His previous best finish was his 25th tie at the Junior Invitational held at Sage Valley in March.

Woods has already counted several vitae wins on his resume, and he appeared in the 14-15-year-old category at the major championships of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour in June 2023.

Last summer he was eligible to compete in the US junior amateur but failed to make the cut.
