WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has forgave a former Virginia sheriff convicted of bribery in what prosecutors call the “badge cash scheme,” preventing him from starting a 10-year prison sentence on May 27th.
Former Culpepper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins was convicted in December of accepting at least $75,000 in bribes in exchange for appointing a Northern Virginia business executive as auxiliary deputies.

Jenkins appealed for direct support for Trump during a webinar hosted by the Constitutional Sheriff’s Association in April, according to a Washington, DC NBC News affiliate.
Trump said on social media on May 26 that Jenkins was a victim of the “eager Biden Department of Justice” and was appointed by US District Judge Robert Burrow Joe Biden.
