“Tush Push” lives on, revenge porn and “original sin”: review week

Calling it a “national victory,” first lady Melania Trump joined her husband, President Donald Trump, and signed a law banning the publication of computer-generated “deepfake” images that are commonly used in revenge porn. The Take it Down Act will punish criminals and require the technical platform to remove such images within 48 hours of receiving a valid request. The bipartisan bill sailed through the Senate and passed the House of Representatives with a 409-2 vote. The president has been busy pushing his “big and beautiful” tax and spending bills into Congress, and to solidify his agenda:

The era of Pope Leo XIV has begun

“Peace with you and your spirit.” With these words, Pope Leo XIV held his first Mass in St. Peter’s Square, Rome, as the leader of 1.4 billion Catholics around the world, before tens of thousands, including dozens of world leaders. Leo, the first American-born clergyman, called for unity, saying, “In this, we still have too many discords and too many wounds caused by hatred.” Among the loyal people gathered, Vice President J.D. Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the new Pope met personally. The White House said Vance had given Leo a letter from President Donald Trump, a letter from First Lady Melania Trump, “prolonging their warm wishes,” and an invitation to the White House.

Bankruptcy 23andme continues to live

Pioneering genetic testing company 23andMe has acquired a lifeline, and its customers may feel at ease. The company was purchased for $256 million at a bankruptcy auction by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. This has committed to “prioritizing the privacy, security and ethical use of 23andMe customer data.” 23AndMe, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March, was the first company to allow customers to map their ancestors by submitting DNA samples using a house swab. The companies will continue to operate as individual genomics services, the companies said.

John Stewart skewers Jake Tupper, CNN

John Stewart is not happy with CNN. The “Daily Show” host pulled away from the outlet to continue to promote all of Joe Biden’s book on cognitive health after the previous president announced he had been diagnosed with progressive prostate cancer. The book “Original Sin” was currently co-written by Alex Thompson of Axios and Jake Tapper of CNN. “Don’t let the news say you have to tell you what you know when people find it?” Stewart asked in his “Daily Show” segment on May 19th. “Isn’t that the difference between news and secrets? No, so I’m watching you.”

The “Tush Push” debate is behind us now

The infamous “Tush Push” doesn’t go anywhere, except for one or two more of the next NFL season at a time. The proposal to ban scrums like the short Yardragby, which was used by Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles, was lacking in team owner votes at the league’s annual spring meeting. Twenty-two teams voted in favor of the ban, while 10 against it – two votes other than what is needed to abandon play.
