President Donald Trump said he was “sad” when he heard of former President Joe Biden’s diagnosis of prostate cancer, and he said he was very hoping for his political opponent.

A Biden spokesman announced on May 18 that the former president had a “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that spread across the bones.

“The president and his family are reviewing treatment options with his doctor,” the statement added.

“We will spread the warmest and best wishes to Jill and his family. Joe wishes a quick and successful recovery,” Trump said in a statement on behalf of himself and first lady Melania Trump.

Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 presidential election after an overwhelming campaign. Biden dropped out of the 2024 race after a poor performance of debates that raised concerns about his age and mental vision.
