Sean “Diddy” Combs Trial Day 4: Defense Cross Excumes Cathy
Shawn “Diddy” Combs’ defense strategy began to focus as his lawyer cross-examined his ex-girlfriend, Kathy Ventura.
Casandra “Cassie” Ventura Fine and husband Alex Fine speak out after her bomb testimony at the federal sex crimes trial of her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs.
After shedding tears during the four days of witnesses on May 16, the couple released their respective statements about an explosive week of emotional testimony from the “Me&U” singer.
Outside Manhattan Federal Courthouse where Combs stands, lawyer Douglas Wigdoll read the statement on behalf of the couple.
“This week has been extremely challenging, but it also really empowers and soothes me,” read a statement from Ventura Fine. “I hope my testimony will give strength and voice to other survivors and help others who are struggling to speak out from abuse and fear and healing.”
Ventura Fine’s statement continued. “For me, I remember the more I heal. If I remember, I will never forget. I would like to thank my family and advocates for the unwavering support they have.
Ventura Fine, who is visibly pregnant with her third child, concluded the statement by writing, “I am happy to be able to rest this chapter of my life. Once I start focusing on the conclusion of my pregnancy, I will ask for privacy from me and my growing family.” The couple shares two daughters: Frankie, 5 and 4-year-old Sunny.
In her testimony, Ventura Fine openly spoke about a decade of sexual, physical and psychological abuse that she said she endured with the hands of her ex-partner’s comb. It included alleged rape, years of participation in Combs’ drug-fueled “Freak Off” sessions, and infamous assault at a now-closed luxury hotel in Los Angeles.
Cathy’s husband Alex Fine says he didn’t save her from the “devil”
“Mobrand” actor and personal trainer Alex Fine, Ventura Fine’s husband, has denounced the commentary that suggested he would “save” the “perfect match” actress and shot back online “speculation” about his feelings about her testimony.
“For the past five days, the world has witnessed the strength and courage of my wife, and has released her past. There is speculation online and it surrounds how it must feel to sit there and listen to her wife’s testimony.” “I felt so much of a sitting there. I felt an incredible pride and overwhelming love for Cas. I felt a deep rage that she was sitting in front of someone who tried to break her.”
“So to him and all those who helped him, to all those who helped him along the way, you didn’t break her mind. You didn’t break her smile that lit up every room.
Fine said, “I didn’t save Cathy. Like some people said, it’s the insult of my wife’s painful work that has been in the way of years to save herself. Cathy saved Cathy.
He added that Ventura’s fine “worked to fight the demons that only the devil herself could have done,” and that “I did love her as much as she loves me.”
“Her life is now surrounded by love, laughter and our family. This horrifying chapter is placed behind us forever and we will not make any additional statements,” Fein said. “We appreciate all the love and support we have received. We ask that you respect our privacy as we welcome our son into a safer world for our mothers.”
