NEW YORK – Madison Square Garden was shaking this Friday night like it wasn’t in 25 years.
Jalen Brunson scored 23 points, six rebounds and six assists, and the New York Knicks reached their first conference final since 2000, serving a 119-81 loss in Game 6 with defending champion Boston Celtics.
New York will face the Indiana Pacers for the opportunity to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals. Game 1 of the Best Seven Series will take place on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden (8pm, TNT).
OG Anunoby also had 23 points, Mikal Bridges had 22 points, Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Josh Hart had a triple double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
Playing without star Jason Tatum, the Celtics were at a loss from the start, finding they fell 41 points in the second half. They were trying to become the 14th team to win the series after downing three games one by one.
The Celtics won Game 5 at home without a 127-102 Tatum, and the sixth All-Star met with teammates at the team hotel before Game 6 after undergoing surgery with his right Achilles tendon.
However, the injured star rally fell on the roadside in a fast order as the Knicks became aggressive from the start and were bullied inside.
Jalen Brown scored 13 of his 20 points in the first half before fouling out nearly three minutes away in Boston’s third quarter. Payton Pritchard scored 11 from the bench, while Al Horford was the only other Celtics starter with a 10-point double figure.
