Ford preparations for tariff impacts suspend financial guidance for 2025
Ford Motor Company said its financial situation in the first quarter is better than expected, but Trump’s tariffs could make 2025 difficult.

Ford recalls an SUV worth over $273,000 due to issues with brake line leakage that could lead to longer brake times and potential crashes.
Brake line issues can take longer for the driver to stop completely, increasing the risk of crashes, according to Ford. So far, the Michigan-based company has not received any reports of accidents or injuries.

Will I be affected by the recall?
The recall includes 273,789 vehicles, according to a report shared on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website.

What caused the problem?
According to Ford, the issue occurs when the vehicle’s front brake line comes into contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe. This can lead to leakage of the brake lines.
“Leak brake lines can cause longer brake pedal movement than expected, which can reduce slowing speed,” Ford said in the announcement. “If the brake fluid is rapidly lost or the brake fluid is completely exhausted, this will increase the distance required to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.”
In announcing the recall, Ford said it could have been bent the front brake line during the engine installation process at Ford’s final assembly plant.
What if I have one of these Ford vehicles?
Ford said the company will notify affected customers via mail and notify them to take the vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealership to inspect the front brake line. The dealer will replace the brake lines or air cleaner outlet pipes for free if necessary.
Ford also said drivers who have already paid for the repair may be eligible for a refund.
Ford will inform dealers about the issue on May 14th and will mail notifications to drivers between May 26th and May 30th.
How did Ford learn about this issue?
The investigation into the issue began in late February 2025, Ford said. Brake system warranty was on the rise in 2022 Navigator vehicles. Someone then warned Ford’s important concern review group about a leak in the front brake line.
Between March 2025 and April 2025, Ford reviewed the assembly plant records and examined the gathering process.
The company discovered that Ford’s Kentucky Truck Factory had changed the radiator hose loading process during engine decks. This change was made in November 2024 to prevent the brake lines from bending. According to Ford, expeditions and navigator vehicles made prior to this change could experience bent brake lines during the engine installation process.
