The seventh seeded Golden State Warriors overcome an offensively poor second half from Steph Curry, receiving a much-needed offensive performance from Buddy Hield, facing second-seeded Houston Rocket in a 103-89 victory.

The Warriors will play Minnesota in the Western Conference semi-final series. Game 1 is Tuesday (9:30pm, TNT).

HIELD scored 22 of his playoff career-high 33 points in the first half, 15-12 from the field and 9-11 at 3. Curry finished with 22 points after scoring just three points in the first half.

In the first half, HIELD was an 8-8 shooting from the field, including a 3-second 6-7. It made up for curry that missed his first five shots and didn’t score until he made a 3-pointer with 33.3 seconds left in the second quarter.

Rockets forward Armentompson scored a team high 24 points, while center Alperencen Senggun scored 21 points and 14 rebounds. However, Jalen Green’s offensive issues continued with just eight points, with the Dillon Brooks scoring eight points as the Rockets shot 40.5% and 33% on 33%.

Both teams confronted the history of Game 7.

The home team scored 113 of 152 games ahead of Sunday’s Warriors Rocket Series finale. However, there have been Game 7 Road winners in the last eight NBA playoffs, including two Game 7 Road winners in 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021.

The team that led the Best of 7 Series 3-1 won 292 Series 279 before Sunday’s match.

The Warriors became another road team to win Game 7. It is also the third time a seven-seeded member has knocked out a second seed in the past 16 seasons (Dallas’ San Antonio in 2010 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023).
