Trump, Zelensky and EU leaders posing for group photos
President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President King Voldymi Zelenkie and European leaders took photos before peace talks with Ukraine continued.
Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelenki has been dressed for diplomacy.
When Zelensky last met President Donald Trump in his oval office in February – a sudden and intense meeting, he said he would wear a suit after the Russian war with his country was over.
The declaration came after a reporter asked Zelensky, who was wearing a black sweatshirt, black slacks and boots.
“I’ll wear my costume after the war is over,” he replied. Kostium is a Ukrainian term for lawsuits.
This time, his choice of outfit and his choice of words seemed carefully designed to isolate him from another unauthorized exit from the oval office. But perhaps Trump’s willingness to file a lawsuit at the meeting three days after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that peace could also be out of reach.
Zelensky came out of his limousine in the White House, equipped with a monochromatic look with a black shirt, slacks and a jacket, so Trump once gave him with a big smile while clearly delighted at his guest style.
Minutes later he supported the same reporter, the reporter, who was critical of Zelenskyy’s casual clothing choice in February.
“You look good in that suit,” Brian Glenn, White House correspondent for the Pro Trump Network, told Real America’s Voice to Zelensky.
“I said the same thing,” Trump said.
Zelensky also prepared to praise Trump for his efforts to put an end to the war. During his February visit, Vice President J.D. Vice President J.D. Vance accused him of not expressing his appreciation for the US support and his gratitude for Trump.
“Have you ever said thank you?” Vance said at the time. “Please provide a message of thanks to the President who is trying to save the United States and your country.”
At the meeting on August 18th, Zelensky opened with four thanks in the first two sentences. Thank you to the invitation, Trump’s personal efforts to end the war, and to the first lady Melania Trump of the letter she wrote to Putin, who generally defends children. He did not mention Ukraine.
Zelensky had another weapon in Arsenal, a mirroring technique known to elicit a positive response. He had a letter from his wife, Olena Zelenska, for first lady Melania Trump, just like what she sent with her husband for Putin.
Zelenskyy’s efforts, and the fact that he joined the European delegation, seemed to help continue the discussion on the right track.
Trump did not rule out US support for Ukraine if his diplomatic efforts didn’t panic.
“We give them very good protection – very good security. That’s part of it,” he said.
