Zayn Malik’s concert honors One Direction bandmate Liam Payne
Zayn Malik’s concert was a tribute to his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne, who died after falling from a hotel balcony.
Zayn Malik is offering insight into his past relationship with Gigi Hadid.
On the Feb. 11 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the “One Direction” alum explained that as his understanding of love grows, he’s not sure if he’s ever truly fallen in love with a fashion model.
“Maybe it was lust, maybe it was this, maybe it was that. I don’t feel it was love. To be fair, I want to put this on the record, but I will always love G because my child is on this earth because of her and I have the utmost respect for her,” he told host Alex Cooper. “I will always love her, but I don’t know if I ever loved her.”
he continued. “When I[first]said it, I felt like people took it lightly. So I respect this woman so much and I really love her, like crazy, but I don’t think I was in love with her at that point. If I hadn’t, I would have been a better version of myself.”
Malik and Hadid started dating in 2015, but officially broke up in October 2021. The two are co-parenting their 5-year-old daughter Kai.
The “Pillow Talk” singer agreed that he has nothing but respect for all of his past partners, but is happy to be single.
“It wasn’t rude at all. It was freeing. I’m a run-on-my-clock, answer-to-my-own kind of person, so it was very freeing. I just had to do things and make plans. I could sleep as long as I wanted,” he said.
That said, he feels he has grown as a person through his past relationships, adding, “You live and learn from it, but this way you don’t feel guilty.”
She added that raising a child and having a career makes it difficult for her to find time for dates, so she needs to be prepared to marry someone new before Kai meets her.
“I have to think about the woman seriously and probably plan to marry her before introducing her to my daughter,” he added.
Malik is set to release his new album ‘Konnakol’ on April 17th, and the first single from the project, ‘Die For Me’, will be released on Friday, February 6th.
