President Donald Trump may be the leader who has been polarised in his day’s work, but Woody Allen wants to direct “very good actors” again in the film.
Just as a well-known New York City real estate developer, Trump appeared in Allen’s 1998 film Celebrity.
“He was a delight to work with, he was a very good actor and very polite,” Allen spoke about Bill Mar’s Club Random Podcast on a new episode on September 1st.
The comment urged Maher to laugh at the director, who is troubled by the controversy, “If you think it’s been cancelled before…”.
Allen, 89, stressed that he did not praise Trump politically.
“I’m a Democrat. I voted for Kamala Harris. I’m having problems with (Trump) at 95%, perhaps 99%,” he said. “But as an actor, he was very good. He was persuasive and had a charismatic quality.”

“I’m not a trumper,” Allen said. “I’m one of the few people I can say he overseen Trump.”
In “Celebrity,” Trump is interviewed by a fawn television reporter (Judy Davis) and Deadpan about purchasing the famous St. Patrick’s Cathedral for his next project. “Maybe we’ll do a slightly rift job and build a very beautiful building,” Trump said in the film.
Allen admitted that he was surprised Trump pursued presidency.
“He had it all. He liked the Knicks game, he liked playing golf, he liked judging beauty contests,” Allen said. “Why give up on it for politics, nothing more than a headache, critical decision and pain?”
As he approaches 90, Allen “plans to die in the next few years.”
Allen, who is suffering from a famous death, will turn 90 this year. On the podcast, Allen is quietly counted in his time on Earth, shooting down Maher’s suggestion that artificial intelligence might extend his life.
“I plan to die in the next few years,” the film director told him.
Allen said he was “lucky” to have a “lifespan” and admitted Marher’s point that he appears and behaves very well.
“But that could change overnight,” Allen said. “All of a sudden you hit that number.”
