The chances of winning Powerball and Mega Millions are not your favour
The chances of hitting a jackpot with the Mega Millions or Powerball are around 192 million. Here’s what you’re more likely to land than a big buck.
A Georgia woman received a gift from her father, worth more than $1 million, but it was not a home or inheritance. Instead, it was a lottery ticket.
According to a press release from the Massachusetts lottery, Vanessa Menuval Acosta became the first $2 million winner of the state’s $25,000,000 megamoney game, which was released on May 13th.
Authorities said Acosta won the award from a scratch-off ticket he received as a gift from his father. Acosta told lottery officials he plans to use a one-off payment of $1.3 million to buy a home and go to college.
But Acosta isn’t the only big winner from the ticket. Massachusetts lottery officials said the store that sold victory tickets, the East Boston corner market, will also receive a $20,000 bonus.
