Will Travis Kelce retire? Chiefs star mom after Broncos game

Date:

Travis Kelce’s NFL future has been a hot topic this season, especially after the Kansas City Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention.

Thursday’s Christmas night game against the Denver Broncos was the Chiefs’ final home game of the 2025 season. But was it also the last home game of Kelce’s career?

The Chiefs star largely avoided the topic.

When asked if there was any special emotion attached to the game, Kelce said, “Yeah, it’s a Christmas game, baby.”

“There’s just so many emotions,” Kelce said. “Let’s let the whole world see it. Go out there with a young guy like Chris Oladokun. It’s prime time television. I’m excited for him and I’m excited for the guys around us. A lot of young guys are getting a chance to get a taste of what NFL life is like on a big stage. I just wanted to go out there and get a win for them.”

When asked further about the topic, Kelce joked that the only time he thought about the possibility of this being his last home game was when he “drove in the other day and saw how big the Powerball was.”

“I thought, ‘Wow, if I win this, I’ll never have to work again in my life,'” Kelce said.

He added: “I’m just focused on winning football games.”

“I will make the decision (to retire) with my family, friends and the Chiefs organization when the time is right,” Kelce said.

After the Chiefs’ 20-13 loss to the Broncos, Kelce received a huge cheer as he left the field at Arrowhead Stadium. His fiancée Taylor Swift and mother Donna were also in attendance.
