Rockefeller Christmas tree lights up in New York City
This year’s tree is a 75-foot Norway spruce from a suburb of Albany, New York, complete with a 900-pound Swarovski star.
The U.S. stock market will close early on Wednesday, December 24th and will be closed on Thursday, December 25th due to the holidays on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Both the Nasdaq Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange will close at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on Christmas Eve, according to their websites. U.S. bond markets will also close early on Dec. 24, with markets closing at 2 p.m. Eastern time and expected to remain closed on Christmas Day, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
Stock and bond markets will reopen on Friday, Dec. 26, with business as usual on Wall Street expected for several days. The next scheduled stock market closure is Thursday, January 1, 2026, for the new year.
The bond market will also close early on New Year’s Eve, with the market closing at 2:00 pm ET on Wednesday, December 31st. The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will close at regular hours on the same day.
