AAA spokesperson offers Thanksgiving travel tips
AAA spokesperson Aisha Diaz spoke with USA TODAY and offered tips for travelers ahead of what will likely be the busiest Thanksgiving travel weekend ever.
Thanksgiving is approaching and millions of people are preparing to travel to see family and friends for the holiday.
If you need to mail a package or pick up a prescription this week, you may want to plan ahead as some pharmacies will be closed on Thursday, November 27th. Some grocery stores, retail stores, and restaurant chains are also open, although most have adjusted hours.
Banks, post offices, and stock markets are also closed on public holidays.
Here’s what you need to know about big pharmacy chains like CVS and Walgreens and whether they’ll be open this Thanksgiving.

This year’s Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 27th.
Is CVS open on Thanksgiving?
CVS Pharmacy will be open on Thanksgiving, but some stores may have reduced hours, a company spokesperson told USA TODAY. The company recommends customers call their local store before visiting CVS.com or checking business hours.
Is Walgreens open on Thanksgiving?
Most Walgreens stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, according to the company’s website. 24-hour stores and pharmacies will remain open. However, stores that are not open 24 hours a day will be closed.
Customers are encouraged to call their local Walgreens store or use the store locator feature on the company’s website to verify specific business hours.
Are grocery store pharmacies open on Thanksgiving?
All pharmacies at grocery chains including Walmart, Costco, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Food Lion and Target will be closed, the companies confirmed to USA TODAY. We encourage customers to check their local store’s pharmacy hours.
