Christmas is approaching. If you’re planning to mail a package or do any banking over Christmas, it’s a good idea to plan ahead.
Some restaurant chains will remain open on December 25 this year, but nearly all grocery stores and retail chains will remain closed, as will banks, post offices and delivery services.
The stock market will also be closed on Christmas Day, and on Christmas Eve, the market will close early at 1:00 pm Eastern time in preparation for the holiday.
Here’s what you need to know about banks, post offices and delivery services and whether they’ll be open this Christmas.
When is Christmas 2025?
Christmas is Thursday, December 25th.
Will the post office be open on Christmas? Will my mail be delivered?
According to the U.S. Postal Service website, post offices will be closed and no mail will be delivered on Christmas Day.
Post offices will resume retail trading on December 26th and mail will be delivered on the same day.
Are banks open on Christmas?
Branches of banks including Bank of America, Trust, PNC, Capital One, Wells Fargo, Citibank and JPMorgan Chase will close on Thursday, December 25th.
The bank will reopen with regular business hours on Friday, December 26th.
Are delivery services like UPS and FedEx open on Christmas?
UPS pickup and delivery services will not be available on Christmas, and UPS Store locations may be closed, according to the company’s website. Please check with your local store for specific business hours.
