‘American Idol’ audition, shocks judges with jazzy ‘Baby Got Back’
Trace Casanova pulled Carrie Underwood out to a dance and urged Luke Bryan to join in on a jazzy duet of “Baby Got Back” during his “American Idol” auditions.
Carrie Underwood is trying not to be surprised by the boos from American Idol fans.
The Grammy Award-winning songstress, who is also a judge on the singing reality show, was repeatedly jeered by the audience while giving feedback to contestants during the Hollywood Week competition.
The booing was so widespread that it was even mentioned on the March 2nd episode of American Idol.
Host Ryan Seacrest said in a voiceover, “Professor Carey’s Hollywood Week class has some students against her.”
“They just like booing me,” Underwood says at one point in the clip.
Underwood’s fellow judge Luke Bryan also voiced her position.
“This is the only one she won, she knows,” Bryan said, to which Underwood quipped to the crowd, “You’re not in the discussion.”
Later, when Bryan gave some constructive criticism to one contestant, Underwood asked him, “Why aren’t they booing?” before directly asking the audience, “Aren’t you going to boo?”

Underwood was booed during Hollywood Week in response to negative feedback about American Idol contestants.
“I don’t know if that was the right song,” Underwood said at one point to the disapproval of the audience.
Later, after the 22-year-old Mol performed a second round of original songs, Underwood prefaced the criticism by telling the audience, “You’re gonna boo me. You’re gonna boo me. It’s almost there. Just do it. I love it. Your boos are what feeds me.”
After the episode aired, Underwood addressed the reaction to X by writing, “Boo me. I don’t care.”
Last month, the singer warned about fan reactions in a post to X.
“Spoiler alert…I get a lot of boos from the Hollywood Week crowd,” Underwood said.
