The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are still searching for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie, after she went missing two weeks ago. They say they are searching for an unidentified person seen in doorbell camera footage.

On February 10, the FBI released important details about the suspect in the Guthrie case. “The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with an average build. In the video, he is seen carrying a black 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack,” according to an FBI social media post.

There were reports of police activity near the Guthrie residence in connection with the investigation leading up to February 14, but there had been no major developments in the case as the weekend began. Angelica Carrillo of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Saturday, Feb. 14, that investigators were following up on leads that did not lead to an arrest, the Arizona Republic, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported.

Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old mother of three, was last seen on January 31 and reported missing the next day. Law enforcement officials said she was abducted from her home in Tucson’s scenic Catalina Foothills.

On February 10, law enforcement released “new, previously inaccessible images” from the Nest camera installed in Guthrie’s front door, according to a watermark in the published clip. An image of a masked person on the balcony of Guthrie’s home matches the description of the suspect.

The FBI’s Phoenix Division worked with private sector partners to “recover images and video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, destroyed, or otherwise inaccessible due to a variety of factors, including the removal of recording devices.” They said the video was “recovered from residual data on backend systems.”

The FBI’s Phoenix Division also said, “Forensic analysis of doorbell camera footage by the FBI’s Operational Technology Division has confirmed new identifying details regarding the suspect in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping.”

On February 12, authorities doubled the reward to $100,000 for information leading to the discovery of Nancy Guthrie or the arrest and conviction of those involved in her abduction. a

Law enforcement is asking anyone with information to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Office tips.fbi.gov. (520-351-4900) or 88-CRIME.
