Can President Trump escape the Epstein files leak?
Thousands of newly released Epstein documents bring new questions.
WASHINGTON – Jeffrey Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, sought to dispel rumors about former President Bill Clinton and President Donald Trump that have been circulating online in recent days.
The rumor began spreading online after emails sent by Mark Epstein to his brother were released by the House Oversight Committee on November 12, along with 20,000 other messages related to Jeffrey Epstein.
In a 2018 exchange, Mark Epstein told his brother to ask then-Trump aide Steve Bannon if Russian President Vladimir Putin had “pictures of Trump blowing his hair.”
Questions began to spread that the term was referring to Mr. Clinton, who is known by the nickname “Bubba.”
In a Nov. 17 interview with NewsNation, Mark Epstein denied any connection.
“Let me stop you right here, we’re not discussing that email. It’s a private email between Jeffrey and me, two brothers talking about it. It doesn’t matter to anyone what we wrote,” he told anchor Chris Cuomo.
“My only reaction was because people were outraged by the Bubba reference. They tried to push it onto Clinton, so I made a public statement that it wasn’t a reference to Bill Clinton. I like Bill Clinton,” he continued. “I’m sorry he had to go through that. But that email had nothing to do with Clinton. That’s my last word on that email.”
USA TODAY reached out to Ms. Clinton’s representatives but did not immediately receive a response.
