Watch USA TODAY reporters train with ‘Dancing with the Stars’ pros
USA TODAY’s Anna Kaufman steps into the ballroom to train with “Dancing with the Stars” pros.
“Dancing with the Stars” is in its 34th season finale, but not a single star appears.
“Mormon Wives” star Whitney Leavitt and professional partner Mark Ballas were eliminated after the ballroom turned purple on a night celebrating the late music icon Prince.
Leavitt, 32, and Ballas, 39, performed a fun and flirty cha-cha routine to Prince’s “1999” and a romantic Viennese waltz to “Slow Love.” But despite top-scoring all season, including outscoring remaining contestants Dylan Efron, Elaine Hendricks, and Jordan Childs, her polished performance wasn’t enough to keep her sent home.
Levitt said in a video on “Good Morning America” that she didn’t think she would “make it this far,” and that Ballas will continue to reassure her, but added that “every once in a while, a gut feeling kicks in.”
“We had a great time on this show and had some really fun moments, and that’s what this show is all about,” he continued. “And, sure, falling at the last hurdle sucks, but the finale is stacked. They’re a great couple. It’s going to be a great show next week. And I’ve made friends for life.”
Leavitt added: “Hello friendship! He’s not going to kick me out.”
The influencer became the last of two “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” contestants on the show after Jen Affleck and partner Jan Ravnik were eliminated in Week 7.
