White House Retreat from IVF Coverage Power of Attorney despite campaign pledge

WASHINGTON – The White House has no current plans to require insurance coverage for in vitro fertilization, despite President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to expand access to fertility treatments, the Washington Post reported Saturday.

Trump signed an executive order earlier this year, directing the government to expand access to IVFs and reduce the costs of general fertility treatments.

White House officials say expanding IVF access remains a priority, but legal restrictions prevent the mandatory compensation without Congressional approval, and no bill is currently planned, the Post reports.

Authorities did not immediately respond to USA Today’s request for comment.
